During our first appointment, I always go through all this information with my clients, but I though was important to post it here, so you know how it works.
After healing the pigment we implanted into the skin is located into the dermis and covered with a layer of epidermis. Epidermis is a very thin layer of the skin but has its own complex structure, its a non-transparent tissue because contains melanin and has your own skin tone in it. This is why all healed results have a mat tone and look a bit faded.
Most of us know, cosmetic tattooing in general fades around 40% during the healing, but why? Because the pigment being a foreign body in the skin, our immune system will fight with it to lead the particles away through lymphatic system. Only the most stable particles will stay in the skin and build your color retention. That is why your 6 weeks touch up is so important! It’s when the skin manages to recover completely, and the body no longer will so actively rejects the pigment, so you have a better result in the end.
Now why results are so different from person to person? Because all of us have different ages, skin type and conditions, different immunity, hormones balance, different life style, health, medications, as well MOOD, but the last one is a subject for a whole new post.
